Trip to Leipzig

Elliot, Nolan and I decided we would take the train to see a good friend in Leipzig for the day.  Annalisa met us at the train station and took us to her apartment.  We enjoyed talking, eating and watching the trains go by her place.  She lives right next to some train tracks--two little boys' dream come true!

It made my day just to watch the boys on the train.  They were so excited!

An Enjoyable Sunday

Most of our Sundays are enjoyable, I just had my camera read on this particular Sunday!  I took the camera to church and got some good pictures of our boys!  And I took a video of Nolan while we were singing a song.  He knows the motions and really has fun!

We took the boys out with their bikes.  Elliot tried out Nolan's balance bike again and did very well.

Shoes, Hair and Rain

I had to get Elliot his THIRD pair of shoes in size 30.  Crazy.  The other two pairs look so ratty--they are kindergarten shoes and he wears them hard.  I told him these are only for church or places I know he is not going to destroy them! :)

Very proud of his Batman shoes.

This is what my hair looks like when I don't tame it.  EEeeeekkkkkk!

We have been having quite a bit of rain lately.  The boys have been enjoying the puddles!

I tried to build a tent for the boys on one of those rainy days.  It lasted about 10 minutes.  I had dreamed of it lasting the whole afternoon.  Nope.

Playground

While Andre works, we go out and play....I am so thankful that Andre has work.  This last week he had the early shift--had to be at work at 5 am.  That means he got up at 3:30 each morning.  And then he had to work Saturday as well.  I took the boys to a nice playground and they enjoyed just being boys!

Birthday Party

We had a birthday party with Nolan's Opa and Oma on July 8.  I decided that we would go to a park that is near Opa and Oma's house.  The weather was so nice and it was a beautiful park with a really nice playground for the children.  We feed the ducks, found a few mushrooms and walked around.  We got some Döners for supper and went back to Oma and Opa's to eat it.  We will do this again for sure!

TWO!!!!

Our sweet baby is two.  So hard to believe.  He is always on the move and it is hard to get a picture with all body parts still. He is about 93 cm (3 ft. 6 in.) and weighs in at 14.2 kg (31 lbs, 4 oz). He just started talking--he has about 20 words in his vocab now--a mix of English and German. We sure are thankful for our joy, Nolan!!

Good start to the day--watching the sweeper clean our street.

Opening his cards!  Thanks Granna, Harris family and Renner family

His balance bike and the cooking set.

Busy cooking!
Getting ready to blow out his candle.

Just pushing his balance bike.

Trying to climb trees with big brother.

He was so excited that it was Nolan's birthday!
Well, we had not planned for this, but Elliot was interested in the balance bike and Nolan wanted to sit on Elliot's bike--it still has the training wheels.  It looks like they might be using each other's bikes for a while!  Ha!  Go figure.

Watermelon Cake

A friend of ours had a birthday and we had invited him over.  A birthday cake.  We need a birthday cake.  The catcher is no sugar, no honey, no agave, etc....what to do....

I found a picture on Pinterest that tweaked my interest--a watermelon cake.  And that is what I did.  It didn't quite turn out like the picture, but I was satisfied!  I used whipping cream for the "icing" and let it kind of run down the sides.  I would do it again--it is a nice alternative to the sugary cakes!  Next time I need candles though!
