I knew Nolan was so close to getting out of his crib and since I didn't want him to fall out of bed, we decided to take off the side before that happened. Freedom! Nolan loves it! And he got used to it very quickly. He did roll out of bed a few times, but nothing like climbing over the side and falling down!
I remember Elliot took about a week before he realized that he could get out of bed in the middle of the night. Nolan lasted all of two hours and he knew what to do! He played peek-a-boo at midnight for several nights. He would also bring me the carton of milk in the middle of the night letting me know he was thirsty.
The transition went better than expected and I am thankful for that! After about day three of freedom, he started going to bed by himself--I did not have to sit there making sure he stayed in bed. Next transition is potty-training.....
