My Upcycling Project

I really wanted a long flowy skirt for our little trip in Oct, but I didn't really have the right material here to make one.  I have teddy bear print, dinosaur print, something for little girls, something for little boys, etc.  You get the idea!

Anyways, I went to the second hand store--they had 50% off on dresses and skirts.  Just maybe I would find a skirt.  Nope.  BUT I found a dress that I thought I could make into a skirt.  The dress was too small--probably a size 6-8.  Since it was a flowy dress though, I thought I could swing it.

The dress--not very modest...

Cut off the top.

Put in two button holes, turned it down to make a waist line.  Put a shoelace through.  And...

My skirt!
I am actually quite satisfied with my finished product.  Yeah!

Trying to Beat the Heat

We headed out to the in-laws and blew up their little kiddy pool.  Might have to do that again if the heat continues!  Elliot enjoyed it more than Nolan.  Nolan just wanted to walk around.

Here is my attempt at being bold...anyone notice????

Nolan was so excited he learned to honk the horn!  And he can do high five

Enjoying the Weather

We have had some chilly mornings, but are now in a heat wave.  We know fall is coming quickly--the leaves are starting to change colors on some trees and the chestnuts are getting ready to fall.  I have been gathering miracle whip jars for a craft with fall leaves.  Looking forward to that!

Nolan really enjoyed the lawn mower at Oma's!  I need to get ours out.

Have a race of some sort.  Elliot won.

Fun on the balcony.

Guess I should have gotten two little swimming pools set up...

Chomutov Zoopark

We had a wonderful time with wonderful people on Saturday in Chomutov, Czech Republic.  We were at a wonderful Zoopark--basically a zoo in the middle of the forest. They lovingly integrated the animals and their habitats into the growing trees and streams.

They could have stayed here forever!!

Two out of three looking at the camera.  Pretty good, right???

Nolan was so tired.  He was asleep in the car in about one minute.

Talking up a storm!!

Gimme a bite!!!
There were lots of fun possibilities for the children.

One of my favorite pictures of the day.  What are they talking about???

Andre's Zoo Park Pictures

Andre took a ton of pictures on Saturday at the Chomutov Zoopark.  Chomutov is right across the border into Czech Republic.  I just selected a few of the animal ones.  I will post some of them with people in it later!

Just Stuff

We have been playing Memory a lot around here.  Here is our Peppa Pig Memory game.  He set up the cards all by himself--obviously not OCD! :)

Nolan has discovered the pots and pans!  It amazes me every time--we have wonderful toys, but what do children play with?????

Pitiful Garden

It was fun, but pitiful!  Elliot really enjoyed planting the seeds.  I will probably do it next year just for that purpose!  We planted zucchini, radishes, kohlrabi and carrots.  We got one zucchini and three radishes.  The kohlrabi is still trying and the carrots look pretty pathetic. I guess maybe the pots that I have them in are too small? BUT it was fun!
Idea from Pinterest--worked so well!

Time is flying...

It is August!  Elliot starts Kindergarten in a month.  Our Kintergarten is day-care/pre-school here. We know Elliot is really looking forward to it, but it sure is going to be a change.  Next week, both boys start there music classes.  Time is just a rollin'.

How can I get what Elliot has???

Those eyes!

Watching guinea pigs.

Hey, Granna!  This outfit is from you!  Elliot wore it at 18 months.

Looking so grown up in his little shirt.

Went mushroom hunting for the first time this year!

Ouch.  Hit the bed post.  Never knew how many times the boys step on my toes...
